* The Test Kitchen has been ranked 44th on the Elite Traveler Top 100 Restaurants 2015 list, climbing one position relative to the 2014 list. The elite magazine is distributed in 100 countries, and its website receives 300000 visitors per month. (received via media release from Manley Communications)

* Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom has indicated that Tourism trade shows must be re-evaluated in how they market our country: ‘One thing we need to properly come to terms with in our country is that our resources are limited and we need to use these limited resources a lot better. We need better alignment in our marketing efforts. It simply makes no sense to have national, provincial and local governments exhibiting separately and alongside each other at these trade shows’. Ultimately product owners and buyers need to connect at such shows.

* TripAdvisor has published a list of its Top 10 destinations in South Africa. Nine of these are in the Western Cape. Cape Town tops the list, followed by Knysna, Franschhoek, Plettenberg Bay, Johannesburg, Constantia, Camps Bay, Hermanus, Paarl, and Stellenbosch. Overall Cape Town was ranked 10th out of Top 25 destinations to visit in 2015.

* Research conducted in the UK by Naked Wines shows that UK wine drinkers are moving to more intense, higher alcohol wines. Interestingly, this change in wine taste preference is linked to climate change!

* First Thursday tomorrow will feature art at 33 galleries in the Cape Town city centre, most galleries staying open until 21h00.

* Klein Optenhorst is opening its garden in Wellington on 18 and 19 April. Entrance of R40 includes scones and tea.
