* Kleine Zalze has won the accolade of Best White Wine for its 2013 Family Reserve, a bush vine Chenin Blanc. at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The winning wines were evaluated by more than 320 judges from 50 countries.
* Actors Sean Penn and Charlize Theron are to wed in South Africa, in Soweto in August, it is speculated
* The feasibility of building a cableway up to Signal Hill from the quarry at the top of Strand Street is being evaluated by Table Mountain National Park. Plans include a stop at the Lion Battery (Noon Gun), as well as developing restaurants, outlets, and a picnic area. It is hoped that it will reduce the traffic problems at the turnoff to the Table Mountain Cableway.
* Two new visa centres are to open in China, Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba announced last week. Travel industry representatives say that many more are needed.
* Mondiall is hosting a 4-course wine pairing dinner with the KWV Mentors range on 20 May, at R550.
