* The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company is closing for its annual maintenance from 28 July to 10 August, to meet the standards of the Swiss Governing Body for Cableways. The Cableway originates from Switzerland.
* Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town will be held from tomorrow until Saturday, organised by African Fashion International with sponsorship support from the City of Cape Town. The fashion industry has an important impact on the economy of the Cape. During the event, 27 designers will present their collections over 15 shows.
* Reuben Robertsons Pop-Up and Pop-In Riffel is travelling through Africa with the Land Rover Africa magazine and TV crew, driving 6500 km from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam. The purpose of the feature is to promote overland tourism to Sub-Saharan Africa. On the journey he has treated his team members with a Sedgwick’s Original Old Brown cream and mushroom sauce served with steak, salad, and vegetables. Riffel will share his cooking skills with chefs along the way, and plans to publish another cook book of the best and worst recipes he encountered on his journey. * KWV 12 year Barrel Select Brandy has been named Worldwide Best Brandy and won the 2014 Worldwide Brandy Trophy Award, at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London. KWV is one of the most awarded brandy producers in our country. Pieter de Bod, KWV Master Distiller, said: ‘To win Worldwide Best Brandy 2014 is the highest accolade and demonstrates our Brandy team’s commitment to innovation and quality of the highest standard. The award is testimony to KWV’s Craftsmanship in Brandy and, increasingly, KWV Brandy is being recognised as a credible and formidable competitor to Cognac. South African brandy standards and processes are on par, if not better, than the equivalent Cognac standards with the only difference being the location from where the grapes that provide the base wine for distillation are sourced’.
