* The Cape Town and Western Cape Convention Bureau has won the South African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) Award for Best Convention Bureau in Southern Africa for the second year running. The Bureau is part of Wesgro, and its Award was based on a vote by SAACI members.
* Lufthansa has introduced a restaurant-style service in Business Class on some of its long-haul routes, including to Johannesburg. Passengers order from a Menu, and the meal is prepared, and brought to the seat on a tray.
* Protea Hotels has been voted as the best in the Hotels category of the 2015/2016 Icon Brands Survey, conducted by Target Group Index amongst almost 16000 respondents.
* Top Aubergine Chef Harald Bresselschmidt will be cooking at [spasie] tomorrow and on Friday evening, at the secret dinner venue on Church Street. The cost is R650 for a ‘4- or 5-course gourmet chef-led dining experience and wine pairings’ (wine brands not revealed). On 13 and 14 August Chef Stephen Fraser from Lanzerac will cook dinner, paired with a vertical pairing of Pinotage, dating back as far as thirty years. Cost is R650 too. * Chef Michael Deg from Delaire Graff will be cooking with Chef Reuben Riffel at Reuben’s at the One&Only Cape Town on 20 August. The five-course dinner costs R395. (received via newsletter from One&Only Cape Town).
