FIFA World Cup 2014 Sweet Service and Nü Health Food Café Sour Service Awards!

World Cup 2014The Sweet Service Award goes to the Soccer World Cup 2014, which has been entertaining, full of surprises in winning and losing teams, lots of goals scored, new records set (the Germany – Brazil match being the most remembered in future, one would expect), and dominating Social Media for the past four weeks by setting new Twitter records.  The crowning highlight will be the Final between Germany and Argentina on Sunday evening.

Nu Health Food CafeThe Sour Service Award goes to Nü Health Food Café in Sea Point, one of a group of healthy fresh food restaurants belonging to Col’Cacchio, and nominated by Kay Dawson:  ‘I am sad to feel the need to nominate a company for a sour service award, especially when they espouse great ideals and have truly gone the extra mile in sourcing ethical suppliers resulting in an innovative and healthy menu. My husband took me there for a lunch treat and I ordered a salad called The Fixer. One of the ingredients is pea shoots. Well I got 3 shoots – a garnish on top of the salad.  The radishes were also sliced thickly and unevenly. It was ordered as a takeaway so I only found this out once at home. I went onto their website and sent an email from the site thanking them for the positives mentioned above as well as a great rooibos drink I enjoyed in the restaurant but advising them of my disappointment in the salad. I received no reply within a few days, so I resent it manually. No reply. So I called the Sea Point branch (where we went) and was advised to email Megan at Head Office. So I resent the mail a third time directly to her inbox. You guessed it – no reply to date – weeks later. Perhaps they need a little bit of social media shaming in order to remember customer manners. A pity‘.

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog.  Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at  whalecot@iafrica.com.   Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog, and in the WhaleTales newsletters on the www.whalecottage.com website.

    • Nice to hear from you again Nick.

I’m not sure if the biting is related to FIFA at all, and if it is approved by soccer fans. I’m impressed that FIFA has stuck to its guns in its ‘punishment’ of Suarez.

Don’t mention the war as far as the corruption goes – it would be ideal if there was a sporting body more powerful than FIFA that can investigate the allegations against it.

      • As an Englishman you’ll be amazed to hear that I’m hoping that Germany wins on Sunday evening! Maybe that’s because I was directy involved in the war over the Falkland Islands, which remain proudly British!! 😉

        • I’m very amazed Nick, but graciously accept your support on behalf of the German team!

  1. A belated response but hopefully sheds light on the matter – ‘Megan’, the creator of the magnificent nü brand, was not working at the time. She has been ousted by unethical partners who used her to create the brand and then conspired to get her out. Eat global, source local loses its appeal when you grasp the mindset of the people behind the brand. Toxic!!
