I have been an avid supporter of OpenWine, ever since Seth Shezi and I went to pop in to see the wine tasting service and wine shop, which opened on Wale Street in August last year. I enjoyed their weekly wine estate introductions and tastings, which were held for a couple of months. June has seen the opening of excellent restaurants The Shortmarket Club, SOURCE, Idiom, and The Stack, despite it being the middle of winter. New restaurant openings continue, especially in Cape Town, and few restaurants have closed down.

New restaurant openings continue, especially in Cape Town. Cape Town ‘s most successful restaurant opening, Locanda Restaurant at Villa 47 on Bree Street, has been followed by the opening of its new Stuzzico bar and small plate restaurant! Interesting news is Chef Ivor Jones’ departure from The Test Kitchen and his future plans (see POSTSCRIPT below). Mulberry & Prince is an exciting new New York-inspired restaurant.
