Bad news: Shifting DayZero out to 2019 leads to an increase in Cape Town water consumption!
Many personal discussions about Cape Town’s water shortage have questioned the wisdom of extending DayZero to 2019, a move which was seen by many as politically motivated, an announcement which was made two weeks ago by DA Leader Mmusi Maimane. Cape Town water usage reduces week by week, but not yet at target of 450 million liters per day!
Some may question the wisdom of the announcement last week that Day Zero has been moved out to 2019, in its potential effect on water saving by Capetonians, in them becoming more lax about reducing their water usage, given that the target of 450 million liters per day has not yet been reached.
