In an email received as a Discovery member from Adrian Gore, the Medical Scheme CEO, it is clear that while Discovery will pay its members’ vaccination cost, it is awaiting Government action and announcement as to which of its members will be eligible for the vaccinations and when.
Not sharing how many members it has in total, Gore does reveal that 5000 of Discovery members and 12 of its staff have died from the Corona Virus. A Google search revealed that the company has 3,5 million members.
Discovery estimates that half of the South African population has been infected with the Corona Virus, vastly different to the official Health Department figures.
