Maison J closes down, as plant-based okja opens in Camps Bay!

 

After just more than two years of opening in Camps Bay alongside Pick n Pay, with a plan to open a number of Maison J outlets inside or alongside the retailer, the owners have closed down the coffee, croissant, and bagel outlet, and reopened on 1 November a completely plant-based food and beverage outlet called okja, in the same space, still selling its coffee and bagels. The French-themed music and turquoise branding and packaging has been replaced with dark blue packaging, and what sounds like Rock music. Luckily the lovely staff remains the same. #Grateful for a little rain this morning, a surprise, which was not forecast, a wonderful excuse to stay in bed longer and watch more movies; for a walk to Clifton, happy to see the Traffic Department in action in stopping cars without number plates near Maiden’s Cove, and Law Enforcement ticketing cars without number plates and/or license discs, a rare sight in Camps Bay; for a pleasant always-friendly shop at Woolies; for a snooze on the terrace until it got too cold, a South Easter picking up; and for being happy and healthy. Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a cooler yet sunny day; for a very relaxed peaceful day; for a late sleep in; for a walk in Camps Bay, with lots of litter to pick up; for Maison J keeping a croissant for me, until I could come to fetch it, they being busier on weekend days; for healthy shopping at the Woolies in Lifestyle on Kloof; for popping in at the Olive Branch Deli, having to wait in a queue as we did in Level 5, only 5 persons allowed inside at a time; for going to see ‘Made in Italy’ in the Labia Cinema, sadly my expectations of the movie not met; for dancing to the Kfm Blok Party; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to Maison J; Sour Service Award goes to Telkom!

 

The Sweet Service Award goes to Maison J in Camps Bay, spoiling Camps Bay residents and visitors to our suburb with excellent service, the best croissants in town (baked by Jason Bakery), good coffee, the best TWG teas, and a choice of almond and oat milk. On weekends the outlet is especially busy, so I sms Manager Vuyani Stemmer with a request to keep me the required number of plain croissants in case they sell out. Last month Maison J celebrated its third anniversary in Camps Bay, its owner David Chait always hands-on at the outlet in the mornings.
