The Sweet Service Award goes to the Plettenberg Bay Police for the second week running. After the burglary last week, the police managed to retrieve a large proportion of my stolen furniture, and some of the fittings. After my departure from Plett on Sunday, more items were retrieved by the police, including a free-standing bath, some beds, a shower door, and a fridge/freezer. Having to be in Cape Town on other business, Detective Warrant Officer John Nomdoe came to see me in my home in Cape Town yesterday, so that I could sign off acceptance of my retrieved items. Plettenberg Bay Police Sweet Service and Patty Butterworth Sour Service Awards
The Sweet Service Award goes to the Plettenberg Bay Police, and specifically Constables Clue Barnard and Edwin Smith. Quick reaction by a neighbour Johan Kruger, with Susan Theron of Bay Holiday Homes, in observing toilets illegally being removed from my house in Plettenberg Bay, contacting me (whilst I was coincidentally on my way to Plett) to check the validity of the action, and then calling the security company we use, led to all the security operators in Plett as well as the police arriving speedily. Susan kept in touch with me over the rest of my 3 hour journey to Plett, warning me that my house had been completely stripped of every fitting, all wiring, geysers, downlighters, and all furniture.
