International Travel for South Africans still extremely limited due to ‘South African’ Virus mutation!

 

The ‘South African’ Virus mutation is keeping most South Africans from travelling overseas, with only a handful of countries allowing South Africans to enter their countries, unless they are citizens of the country they wish to travel to.

Only seven countries allow relatively easy access to our country’s residents without quarantine prescriptions, reports BusinessTech, without naming the countries.

Guarded good news is that some international travel will soon be allowed within the European Union, for those residents with ‘vaccination passports’. But the vaccination brands must be those approved by the European Union authorities!

Confusing Covid and Visa regulations damage International Tourism to South Africa!

 

Six days after South Africa’s borders reopened for tourism, confusion reigns about various aspects of the new regulations in regard to how they apply to Leisure and Business Travellers, the insurance required in particular, whether the Covid testing applies to airline crew, and whether Visas are required for visitors to our country!  A surprise has been that the Minister of Tourism has appeared to have had no participation in the regulations regarding the reopening of International Tourism, left in the hands of the Departments of Home Affairs, Transport, and International Relations and  Cooperation! International Travel: when will South African skies reopen? Low Road and High Road scenarios

 

 

The future of Tourism in our country under the Corona Virus Lockdown has been up in the sky, so to speak, intra-provincial Domestic Travel just having been opened up. No further information has been available about inter-provincial travel, nor about International Travel until now, with a Tourism Recovery Plan just having been released by the Department of Tourism.

Business Tech has summarised the South African Tourism Sector Recovery Plan: August 2020, released by the Department of Tourism, reflecting best and worst case scenarios of when Domestic and International Travel will reopen. Corona Virus: South African Government announces drastic measures to contain and reduce COVID-19 infections!

 

At 19h40 today President Cyril Ramaphosa announced our country’s retaliatory and preventative measures against the Corona Virus, of which there are 61 cases to date, following an emergency Cabinet meeting earlier today. A National State of Disaster was announced. The President described the measures to be implemented as ‘urgent and drastic’.  Continue reading →
