The ‘South African’ Virus mutation is keeping most South Africans from travelling overseas, with only a handful of countries allowing South Africans to enter their countries, unless they are citizens of the country they wish to travel to.

Only seven countries allow relatively easy access to our country’s residents without quarantine prescriptions, reports BusinessTech, without naming the countries.

Guarded good news is that some international travel will soon be allowed within the European Union, for those residents with ‘vaccination passports’. But the vaccination brands must be those approved by the European Union authorities!

Belgium and South Korea are the latest countries to refuse entry to South Africans on the basis of the ‘South African’ Virus mutation, the second largest mutation after the UK one. The Brazilian and Indian Virus mutations are also cause for concern internationally.

As of the beginning of this week, 117 countries have ‘major restrictions’ against the entry of  South African travelers. Such restrictions include not being allowed into the country at all, or very strict entrance criteria, which may include quarantining on arrival.

It may be some years yet before international travel returns to normality. Restrictions in entering South Africa by international travelers appear to be minimal, and locals are noticing an increasing number of foreigners in Cape Town.
