While the UK remains steadfast in keeping South Africa on its Red List, Germany and the USA have announced the welcome news that they will welcome travellers from South Africa, report Businesstech and fin24.
Each of these two countries still have some entrance requirements, but these are mild compared to the rigorous regulations demanded of local travellers by the UK Government.
The UK removed a number of countries, including Kenya, Pakistan, Egypt, and The Maldives, from its Red List last week, but South Africa was not one the nine countries benefiting from the travel relaxation, reports Daily Maverick.

#grateful for a lovely day, spending most of it working, making bookings for my clients’ guests, changing bookings, replying to client reviews, posting in their Social Media channels, and photographing the Reddam Atlantic Seaboard Matric Dinner Dance at Utopia Cape Town, a non-alcoholic and non-partner one; for a walk to Woolworths to get a few things for my lovely picnic Abendbrot dinner with Gary Peterson, catching up on his exciting life and finishing his bottle of whiskey which had my name on it; for lovely rain which has started falling now; for dancing my last steps to Kfm’s Blokparty; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

I have an exciting feeling about tourism starting to pick up, seeing all sorts of signs today, including hearing Germans in Woolies, not having heard it spoken in quite a while.
I’m so proud of my clients’ restaurants having done so well today. 👏
News from Havana is not good, the locals really struggling. Like us they have had hardly any tourists. The cost of getting to the USA is $5000, money the locals just dont have. 🥲😱

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, and returned to Level 3 on 26 July, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. Restaurant Klein JAN is going from strength to strength, which is no surprise, given that it is owned by Restaurateur and Chef Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen. What is a surprise is that it is in the Kalahari Desert on Tswalu Private Game Reserve, miles away from anywhere.
Now Restaurant Klein JAN has received a new accolade, not for its cooking but for its beauty, being one of two South African restaurants making the 2021 Conde Nast Traveller Most Beautiful Restaurants in the World List, out of 39 restaurants in total, and accompanied by Wolfgat in Paternoster.
