Top 10 Women Chefs in Cape Town and the Winelands: 2022

 

For the third year running we are acknowledging female chefs heading up restaurant kitchens in Cape Town and the Winelands.

Started during Lockdown in 2020, as a celebration of Women’s Day, the Top 10 Women Chefs List highlights how few top restaurants have female chefs in their kitchens in general, and even fewer have women chefs heading up the restaurant kitchens.

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a cold grey and then rainy day, staying home all day, having picked up a cough; for a hard working day, Mondays always having the most work, added to which was writing a client newsletter; for some step walking in our garage; for surviving an alarm going off directly above my bedroom just after 2h00 this morning, when the clients of owner Magali Seguillon of EbbTide apartment 202 came back during Curfew 🥵; and for being healthy and free. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Meet Chef Jenny Morris of Yumcious : 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef!

 

Chef Jenny Morris is a household name, not only locally but also internationally, through TV cooking shows, a radio show, six cookbooks, and through her restaurant Yumcious and her catering company Giggling Gourmet – The Cooks Playground, both in the Cape Quarter.  Chef Jenny is one of our 2021 Top 10 Women Chefs. She has won a bottle of Adhara Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil,

Chef Jenny is planning to reopen Yumcious this week, after the sad passing last month of her dear husband and business partner David.

Jenny and David opened Yumcious six years ago. She writes cookbooks, the latest one being ‘Yumcious’, with another up her sleeve. She and Reza Mohammed have done cooking shows  on their Fabulous Food Academy on the Food Network.  She also is a regular presenter on Heart FM.

#grateful for rain for most of the day, the weather not as wild as predicted; for an organized working morning; for my rolls waiting for me at Dinkel Bakery, the lovely Cain telling me that Gary Peterson had been there for coffee this morning; for stocking up on good old German Maggi liquid at the German Food Shop above Dinkel; for a quick shop at Continental Butchery on Kloof Street; for good Utopia and Anatoli status meetings, so good to see how well the bookings are looking for September, and how amazing the growth in Facebook and Instagram followers has been in the past week, due to Continue reading →
