The global economic crisis is affecting sales of Champagne, with exports to the USA dropping by 22 % in the first half of this year, reports the Boschendal Wines’ Blog.
Following good growth in 2007, sales to the French market, representing half of all Champagne sales, dropped by 4 % in the first eight months of this year.
Quoting Business Report, the blog states that Champagne sales are growing in the East, in Russia, Scandinavia and in the Gulf states, albeit off a small base.
