The Sweet Service Award goes to ABSA Sea Point and its manager Zida Dante, who assisted me in finding information as to the whereabouts of our new credit card, which was due to be replaced, being close to its expiry date of 31 March. Not only did she contact the courier company UTI, but she also called me an hour after speaking to her to check if I had succeeded in tracing my new credit card, going beyond the call of duty!
The Sour Service Award goes to UTI for its incompetence in organising an ABSA credit card delivery. As the current card was about to expire, I called ABSA Sea Point to check if it had been delivered to that branch. It had not and the branch manager followed up, saying the card was lying at courier company UTI. I called UTI four times, each time having it confirmed that the card was at UTI, waiting for a face-to-face delivery to me. If I wanted the card to be delivered to an ABSA branch, it would have to go back to ABSA’s head office to be re-issued as a branch delivery card, taking up to 7 working days! Losing my patience, I asked to speak to a more senior person, who was team leader Tasmeen Davids, and she discovered on her system that the card had in fact been sent to the Garden’s Centre branch of ABSA two weeks earlier! It is unbelievable that ABSA can have its image tarnished by such an incompetent courier company, which clearly does not know what it is doing!
