Cape Town is one of 120 cities celebrating The Global Party this weekend, which began on Thursday and runs through until this evening, each of three parties per city and 360 parties in total ‘linking the world for a worthy cause‘ aimed at benefiting children through the 360000 VIPs, celebrities, and jetsetters attending. The Global Party theme this year is ‘Global Glamour‘.
The first Global Party was held two years ago, with 80 parties held. The event is to become an annual one from now onwards, and the proceeds from donations received and the monies raised through auctions will go to The Global Charity Trust as well as to local country-specific charities. The 120 parties per evening are live-streamed globally. The global parties are being held at an elite list of the world’s chicest nightspots, including Nikki Beach in Marrakesh, Paris’s Ozu Club, and The Savoy in London.
We were invited to attend The Global Party at The Pepper Club Hotel & Spa double storey penthouse, with panoramic views of Table Mountain and Table Bay from the 20th floor last night, having been preceded by the party at Club 31 in the ABSA building on Thursday evening, and to be followed by the sit-down dinner at Shimmy Beach Club, with the theme ‘Diamonds are Forever‘ this evening. ‘We relish the opportunity to throw the most unforgettable party Cape Town has ever seen’ said Shimmy Beach Club Director Shawn Mace.
The monies raised at all three Cape Town global parties will go to AIDS NGO Wola Nani with its Orphans and Vulnerable Children Programme (OVC). Wola Nani, Xhosa for ‘we embrace and develop one another‘, was established in 1994 as a non-profit organization to support women, orphans, and vulnerable children infected by HIV-AIDS.
The canapés served had a global theme, with flags designating the country of origin of the dishes, including French cheeses, Italian pizza, German wurst, and South African biltong and droë wors. Drinks were sponsored by Peroni, SKYY, and Marilyn Monroe’s favourite champagne Piper Heidsieck. Auction items were donated by Aquila, Fantastic Racing, Alphen Boutique Hotel, Pepper Club Hotel & Spa, Grand Africa, and The Last Word.

It was a pleasure to meet you at this event, and I think your company added to night.
Likewise to meet you and Lauren Craig, impressed with your impeccable manners and good company, and of course your generosity in your auction bids last night. I do hope our paths cross again.
Chris
I believe that for the event on Saturday that they paid exorbitant amounts for ‘celebrities’ to be present- a shame if true! Paying amounts like that for Tracey McGregor to be there is not a selling point!
I have no information about the event at Shimmy. All I know is that it was by invitation only.
