Peter Tempelhoff’s newest restaurant (his third) is due to open next week. Ramenhead Restaurant is described as a Japanese Street Food restaurant, and is opening in Speaker’s Corner on Parliament Street, at street level of the same building in which his two star FYN Restaurant is located, and next door to Labotessa Hotel.
The restaurant opening has been delayed by a few months, it having taken over the previous space of a number of short-lived operations such as a French bakery and a Dim Sum kitchen.
Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish, using Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a dashi base broth. Common flavours are soy sauce and miso, and toppings include pork, nori, menma, and scallions. The Chinese noodles in ramen dishes contain kansai, giving them a distinctive yellow colour and chewiness. It is described as the national dish of Japan.
In visiting Labotessa this weekend, and peeping through the door, Ramenhead looks ready to open. Containers with plants have been added to the outside terrace, as has a string of lights, clearly indicating that tables will be added outside to the limited number of tables inside.
Information about Ramenhead Restaurant is still limited, but will be added to this Blogpost when more becomes available.
