Saturday 2 April 2022, Day 184 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a wonderful day, dominated by my disbelief and shock in receiving a message that my new client wanted my bank details, not just to pay me for the month ahead but for six months, not my payment terms at all, and not having started doing any work, but deeply grateful for the trust and generosity it reflects 🥲💙; for a very windy all-day South Easter Day, still blowing a storm, even in Sea Point; for posting for my clients; for a walk to the Hussar Grill parking area, to meet St Cyprians learners Kaylee and Alika living in Camps Bay, who wanted to work with me for their school community project, in cleaning litter for 90 minutes, filling 7 bags, tackling litter hotspots mainly inside bushes 😱👏; for a lovely evening spent at Grand Pavilion, trying their Restaurant Week Menu with German swallow Annette Kreuck, seeing Gary’s friend Barry there; for fabulous music on the Kfm Blokparty, no chatting and no ads; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

Restaurant Week is running until the end of this month. Grand Pavilion wasn’t our first choice, but what we wanted was fully booked. We were surprised that it wasn’t fully booked. The service was diabolical, not having our confirmed reservation, having three waiters after each other, not knowing this special menu, not knowing what the line fish was, the calamari starter drowning in rocket, despite its exclusion having been requested, the wine was luke warm, the pepper grinder did not work, offered soup spoons for the dessert, no proper mask wearing by staff, and so it went on. No Manager visible at all! We paid R450 for 3 courses from a set menu with options.

I am so grateful for my current career, and how I have grown in it and how much I have learnt since starting 1 1/2 years ago. I’m on the brink of an exciting journey with my new client, needing to pinch myself that this can be true and happening to lucky me. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, returned to Level 1 on 1 October,  and the Curfew Curfew lifted on 30 December 2021 is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
