Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for another warm beautiful sunny day; for the City of Cape Town truck driving past to clear out the green bins, the staff always happy, smiling, and waving, clearly loving their job; for being able to drive to town for the first time in almost two weeks; for being able to donate blood, hearing ads on radio requesting donors to come to donate, and with such fabulous service; for the most friendly and smiling service at The Olive Branch Deli at Lifestyle on Kloof; for the easy drive to and in town, with hardly a car on the road; for wine now allowed to be exported; for children now being allowed to see the other parent as per custody agreements; for getting a Discovery Vitality Gameboard play, with quite a nice point score; for Discovery having created a Whats App service allowing one to ask questions; for the Waterfront opening all its booms, not charging for parking; and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙
I woke up with a headache, worried what it might mean, and if the half a glass of red wine of last night may have been the reason, but it just eased itself away. 🙏
I wrote a Blogpost about how small and medium sized enterprises are struggling to survive financially, and to receive loans and grants offed by government and private endeavors, and how difficult the conditions are to receive such funding. The Tourism Relief Fund has racial quotas, contrary to our President’s promise in his Lockdown speech. Alderman James Vos of the City of Cape Town is starting to make a noise about this.
It was bizarre driving to town, not a car in sight until I got to Lifestyle on Kloof. I was surprised to see a queue outside Woolworths going back as far as the entrance to the centre. I popped in at Olive Branch Deli, found some lovely cheeses, and farm beef mince, which I’ve transformed into some dishes for the freezer. The queue outside Woolworths had lengthened, so I gave it a miss.
I received an amazing reception at the Long Street branch of WP Blood Clinic, Lorna guessing that it was me, after I called this morning to check on my eligibility. She had already printed out my blood labels, and remembered that I like my tea weak and black, l last having been there 3 months ago. Wow! The radio ad promised strict hygiene, but one of the staff dealing with me wore no gloves or mask. I had to fill in a COVID-19 questionnaire to check my health, in addition to their standard form. I love the tea, fruit cake, and double size Romany Cream-like biscuits there.
The Waterfront was eery, with very few persons. There was no queue at Woolworths, and I got a fright seeing their staff wearing Perspex full-face protection, like out of a movie. But it is almost impossible to hear what they say with this new face mask. They were very out of stock, including of bananas and spinach which is what I was looking for. Their baskets now have security tags, not quite sure why.
As I had to drive home via Sea Point I stopped at the old Adelphi Centre, having read that Coco Safar is selling bakery items. They will be doing home-deliveries soon too. SANS the organic shop was open too, but I was shocked to be charged almost R20 for 3 little bananas at R45 per kilo, so declined and got them at Pick n Pay next door, at R19 per kg! A horrid incident at Pick n Pay, where the poppie in full Virus combat gear in the queue ahead of me had a credit card not working, then had to use another, first checking how much money was in it, totally self indulgent, and totally clumsy in trying to do anything whilst wearing gloves. Verbally abusive too. 🥵🥵🥵
I saw no driving control on my trip, except on Somerset/Main Road in Green Point, I driving on a parallel road. Very hectic with police and traffic police.
It was a relief to drive back to my special Camps Bay, and my petrol tank is still almost full, not being able to make use of the new lower petrol price. Once again I realized how special the service is at our Woolies here, organizing products that they are short of. And that I can walk there. ❤️❤️❤️

Dancing was curtailed to this afternoon, being out and writing most of the morning. Lovely afternoon music on Kfm as always. 💃🎶👣. Kfm played a voice note I sent them about being on the road to donate blood, for their ‘Terrific Report’, taking over the Traffic Report.
