Wednesday 13 May 2020, Day 13 of Lockdown Level 4, after 35 days at Level 5 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for another beautiful day, despite cooler at 18C, and even with a slight drizzle during Exercise Time, but not strong enough to deter me from walking; for bumping into regular walkers and coffee drinkers Haakon and Thomas; for being able to shop at Pick n Pay and Woolworths directly after exercising; for meeting Uma Govender of Masala Café, winner of a bottle of ADHARA olive oil, in a competition which I ran with Janet Pillai on the Restaurant Food Delivery Facebook page; for the number of restaurants on the Facebook Group increasing to 442; for a short snooze on the terrace when the sun came out; for being allowed a Gameboard play on Discovery Vitality; for dancing to Kfm; for bumping into Gila and Chris Marshall on my walk, having been members of my Guest House Association in Camps Bay many moons ago; for having the most special friend in Stuart; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
I bravely took a rake with me on my walk this morning, to clear the Bali Bay pavement of all the dog poo – it was like playing hopscotch, having to jump left and right to avoid all the land mines. My pace was not as fast as the other Exercise Time days as a result, and I only made it as far as Glen Beach.
I wrote a Blogpost about the predictions of how badly the Corona Virus is likely to affect the Tourism Industry in terms of employment, and the Strategy that Cape Town Tourism and the City of Cape Town plan to implement to keep our city visible and to plan ahead for the Tourism industry opening up locally and internationally.
I tried a new way to request the Sassa R350 per month for 6 months grant for Unemployeds, somewhat cynical about it but wanting to test the process. I read that one should email, which I did yesterday but that resulted in no response. Today I found a Whats App number, and wow, the questions kept flowing… lots to answer, until it came to my ID number…. and then I was rejected, as the Grant is only for 18 – 59 year olds…. which has not been mentioned anywhere. 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I tried various Fibre internet companies this afternoon, Cybersmart answering immediately, but it and Vox being more expensive than WebAfrica. And then it could take a week of no internet while one switches from one company to the next via OpenServe, not viable during Lockdown. I realized that I am stuck with WebAfrica, even more so when I did get through to a very efficient Aneesa, who said my current usage is far too high to go onto a throttled package. She promised to get Tech Support to call me about the poor quality Wifi in the last few days …. still waiting. ❤️🥵
Uma Govender of Masala Café just came to collect her bottle of olive oil, and brought me a large paper bag of their foods they had made that won them the prize. Wow. 👏💙 Unbelievable that their reviewer is Shubha Shukla in Camps Bay, who reviewed in the name of her accommodation rental company, she and I having wanted to meet, and now I will meet her tomorrow. What a small world. 🙏
Quite some time still to dance until our President Cyril speaks to us at 20h30 tonight. 💃👣

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, and lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
