Friday 9 October 2020, day 19 of Level 1, Day 197 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the final step of the Hermanus House Headache having been reached, with the transfer taking place today, ending a 5 1/2 year nightmare, once again with thanks to Johan Prins; for the rain that came down as if in cloudbursts this morning and this afternoon, getting poor KitKat sopping wet both times, but sunny for the rest of the day; for a relaxed stress-free day; for a lovely cup of tea and chat with Emma at The 41; for meeting our brand new team of Camps Bay Car Guards, neatly dressed in blue jackets, distanced a few meters apart on Victoria Road; for writing and sending a proposal which I had been procrastinating about; for seeing the newly renovated Café Caprice; for seeing that the City of Cape Town has removed the tree stump outside Mynt; for a lovely looong catch up call with my Alex ❤️; and for being very happy and healthy. 🙏💙

My Sweet Award went to the City of Cape Town for a second week running, and the Sour Service Award went to Checkers in Sea Point.

Sweet Service Award goes to City of Cape Town; Sour Service Award goes to Checkers Sea Point!

I had to laugh at Giles of The 41, who couldn’t believe that I had a sleeveless top on today, saying that I wear more pearls than clothes, even though I wore leggings today instead of my favourite shorts…. 😂😂😂

Caprice reopened today, after a very quick renovation. They have moved their bar to upstairs, leaving more space downstairs for tables and chairs. Lovely mix of pink and blue with white.

All the new Car Guards had left, at about 17h00, possibly due to the rain. I saw an illegal guard near Pam Golding and took a photograph to send to Ryan at CSI. The guard crossed the road and came up to me aggressively, shouting at me about taking the pic without his permission. He became racist about me/Whites not having the only right to live in Camps Bay. He threatened to lay a charge against me at the police station. As he stood very close to me, near the Tidal pool, and there was no one else around, I called CSI, who sent a van. The officers were very aggressive towards the two guards (another had joined) and asked me if I wanted to lay a charge against them. I declined, having been through this with the homeless beggar Michael Shange without success. I spoke to the officers, asking how today had gone, and how they had managed to remove all the homeless illegal car guards. They said that they had a rough day, the illegals coming back and causing trouble, there being a near stabbing of a new Guard towards the Mynt end of Camps Bay. I’m sure there will be more of these incidents.

As I walked home I saw Michael Shange, and he started harassing a group of Tidal Pool swimmers coming out of the pool, changing on the pavement, begging money from them, mainly women and one man. I had to call the CSI Officers again, to sort him out. He ran after me afterwards, hurling abuse at me, armed with his rake, but I just kept walking!

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
