Saturday 27 February 2021, Day 64 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 339 of Lockdown, 11 month of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful day at 28C, with almost no wind; for surviving the day with only 2 1/2 hours of sleep after terrible noise disturbance by renters of the apartment above me until 3h00 this morning, as well as Full Moon; to Emma at The 41 for strengthening me and pulling up my spirits with a Dilmah tea, and a delicious croissant with egg and bacon, served on the beachfront lawn 💙; for a fabulous community beach clean up, with Camps Bay High learners and drama students from the LATMA Academy at the Theatre on the Bay joining in; for finally giving up on my Reebok shoes which I bought in Havana 20 months ago, easily having walked 4500 km in them, now for Mr Grey to play with, he loving chewing the shoelaces; for a high-cardio walk to 3rd Beach in Clifton and back, earning 300 Discovery points; for a second beach clean this afternoon at the Tidal Pool, two High School learners and a mom joining me in removing masses of litter; for the peace and quiet in our building tonight, as the noise creators checked out this morning; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Friday 9 October 2020, day 19 of Level 1, Day 197 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the final step of the Hermanus House Headache having been reached, with the transfer taking place today, ending a 5 1/2 year nightmare, once again with thanks to Johan Prins; for the rain that came down as if in cloudbursts this morning and this afternoon, getting poor KitKat sopping wet both times, but sunny for the rest of the day; for a relaxed stress-free day; for a lovely cup of tea and chat with Emma at The 41; for meeting our brand new team of Camps Bay Car Guards, neatly dressed in blue jackets, distanced a few meters apart on Victoria Road; for writing and sending a proposal which I had been procrastinating about; for seeing the newly renovated Café Caprice; for seeing that the City of Cape Town has removed the tree stump outside Mynt; for a lovely looong catch up call with my Alex ❤️; and for being very happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Wednesday 7 October 2020, Day 17 of Level 1, Day 195 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, slightly cooler at 19C; for a long deep sleep; for receiving another delivery of ingredients for the B-Well online cooking with Chef Jennifer Morris, which turned out to be great fun, doing it alone for the first time, missing my MasterChick Jenny Stephens; for a walk to Camps Bay this afternoon, meeting with Marius Blanc and Zahrah of The 41, to discuss our next Camps Bay Beach Clean Up ón 31 October; for being able to borrow a potato peeler which I don’t own, doing so little cooking, least of all of potatoes, from Chris Papayannes at Tindlovu, as Pick n Pay does not sell them; for dancing the rest of my steps to Kfm 💃; for receiving two Discovery Gameboard plays and 360 Miles; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Camps Bay celebrates International Coastal Clean Up Day with a Beach Clean Up in Cape Town, in royal company!

I heard about International Coastal Clean Up Day on Saturday 19 September, and spontaneously decided to organise a Beach Clean Up in Camps Bay, the Cape Town suburb in which I live and in which I have been picking up litter for the past eighteen months, under the CAMPS BAY CLEAN name. While the turnout was lower than I had hoped for, the twenty volunteer locals managed to fill 25 bags with litter, between Glen Beach and the Tidal Pool in Camps Bay. Continue reading →
