The Sweet Service Award goes to Eskom, for keeping our country load-shedding free for all of August, a lovely Women’s Month gift!
The Sour Service Award goes to the City of Cape Town, which regularly leaves street lights on during the day in Fresnaye in Cape Town. When we Tweet about it, the City usually has one of two excuses: the street light timer is out of sync due to loadshedding (not an excuse in August as per above), or it prevents copper cable theft, despite our suburb not having any reported cases thereof and not happening during the day in a high density suburb. Commendable is that the City switched off the street lights during the day within ten minutes of our Tweet to them earlier this week!
The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog. Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at whalecot@iafrica.com. Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog.
