The Sweet Service Award goes to Farber Coachworks in Montague Gardens, and its driver Daniel Steyn, for his kindness in driving me between my home and his employer. He is an amazing service ambassador, compared to his colleagues, not one of the persons I dealt with other than him having any redeeming features or service orientation.
The Sour Service Award goes to Farber Coachworks in Montague Gardens, and its staff who dealt with the repair of a dent in my car whilst I was overseas. My insurer Auto & General had directed me to use this panelbeater, even though I had not sought a quotation from them. I discussed with supervisor Rushden Theron that I wanted two minor scratches fixed as well, and would pay for it, and he promised to send me a quotation for the extra cost. He also offered to have me collected from the airport, when I arrived back from my overseas trip. I never heard another word from him in the month during which I was away! I did receive regular text messages from Tarryn, who addressed me as ‘Dear von Ulmenstein‘ in each text message, updating me on the progress of the car repair. However, on 24 August I received the last message from her, advising that the vehicle was being re-assembled, and that I would be updated ‘when it moves to Polishing’! I wrote to her about the airport collection, but received no reply! When I called, I was told that my vehicle was ready! When I went to collect it in Montague Gardens, I was rudely dealt with by Maurisha Diedericks, who kept interrupting my interaction with Tarryn, and who was chewing gum, yet denied that she was! She slammed a door in anger! There was no sign of Rushden, despite having promised that I would see him on collection of my vehicle! After collection, the owner of the branch called me to ask me why I ‘had altercations with my staff’! He did not ask me why I was dissatisfied with the service of his company. He had been rude to me on the day that I delivered my car, having been in Reception on that day! Farber Coachworks is company with a poor customer orientation, and it starts with its owner. It is a shame that insurance companies force one to use a panelbeater with such a poor regard for their customers!
