Kavanagh’s Hair & Beauty Sweet Service Award; MDS courier company Sour Service Award!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Kavanagh’s Hair and Beauty in Sea Point, and its stylist Vera Croeser, who did a complimentary cut and colour of my hair, as well as an eyebrow tint.

Vera and I had not met previously, and were connected via Marina Nestel, a brand ambassador for Kavanagh’s.

Vera and I had much in common, with an interest and learning in spirituality, a new path for me. She added a funky touch to my new cut, and took extra care of my hair, bringing out the colour with a tonic.

The 20 minute scalp massage by her assistant Lorraine, whilst I was wrapped up in a warm blanket, was an absolute treat and indulgence.

The Sour Service Award goes to MDS couriers, for their poor service in delivering a media parcel of Oryx Braai Salt on behalf of Freebies PR and Marketing. I received a call from the courier company, reprimanding me for not being at home when they had come to deliver the parcel, but they had not made an appointment with me. Courier companies generally are extremely annoying, in expecting one to sit at home all day to receive a delivery!

I had not expected a delivery, and the person calling me could not tell me who the sender was. I found the gentleman caller very difficult to understand. When I suggested a time and day for the delivery, I received a mouthful for specifying a time!

I spoke to the head of deliveries for my area, and he was extremely impatient, only being interested in my waybill number, even though I was not the sender of the parcel! I had to tell him this a few times over. Once I had given him my address, he agreed to a mutually acceptable time. I opened the parcel in my car, as I literally had to drive to my home to receive the parcel in the street, and drive back to where I had been that afternoon.

The parcel inside was damaged, despite having been marked as ‘fragile‘, and the glass container had lost most of its content, which landed up in my car! It was a disappointing experience all round, and a poor reflection on the Oryx brand. I did contact the owner of Freebies PR and Marketing, Ingrid Altmann, and she was understandably angry about the disastrous delivery.
