Since the opening of Leeu House in December, the five-star boutique hotel has gained two permanent illustrious ‘guests’, the late Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Ghandi!
The sculptures of the two statesmen were placed on the Huguenot Road (main road) side of the property, for maximum visibility. Both sculptures are near life-size, garbed in attire that can be associated with each of them.
The statue of the late former President Nelson Mandela wears a distinctive ‘Madiba‘ shirt, and is a bronze by Egon Tania.
The late Mahatma Gandhi is a revered Indian political and spiritual leader, and wears his signature Dhoti in the sculpture by Anton Momberg.
