MasterChef SA to make a 4th Season comeback after a six year absence!

It was a chance remark from a chef that I was alerted to the news that MasterChef SA is to make a comeback…. but the news is scant!

The history of MasterChef SA : MasterChef had three seasons in South Africa, with Chefs Pete Goffe-Wood and Bennie Masekwameng as judges in all three seasons. Chef Reuben Riffel joined the third season as a judge. The filming took place at Nederburg. Robertsons was the main sponsor. Season Winners were Dean Naidoo, Kamini Pather, and Roxi Wardman (crowned in December 2014).  I covered each show of the three seasons on this Blog.

MasterChef SA Season 3 episode 17: Roxi Wardman steams ahead to win Finale, praised by Chef Marco Pierre White!

What we know currently is minimal:  in August 2021 20 amateur chef candidates were sought for the new season of MasterChef. There will be a fourth season. Filming took place in October. Pick n Pay is the main sponsor. ‘MasterChef SA Season 4 will be broadcast Monday-Thursday from 28 February 2022 at 18:00 on M-Net, with filming taking place as soon as possible in October 2021. The celebrity chefs who will judge the passionate cooks will be announced later this year’.

And that is it!

I will update my readers as more information about the new season of MasterChef SA becomes available.

POSTSCRIPT 15/12:  Candice Little offered this additional insight in response to my Blogpost:

Oh yeah! They just finished filming this at the Maker’s Landing Market at the Waterfront (by the cruise terminal). I cannot wait to see it considering how many familiar faces there will be. One of the ladies who made it into the top 5 is actually a Maker’s Landing vendor cook, how cool is that?!’
