Melissa’s Sweet Service and iFix Sour Service Awards!

imageThe Sweet Service Award goes to Melissa’s in the V & A Waterfront, and its new franchisee owner Matthews Mazibuko, who comped the ice coffee I ordered as it had not been correctly made (I have one almost every day at the Kloof Street branch) and also had it remade, so that he too could see what it should look like. I was at the outlet to while-away time while my phone was being repaired at iFix (see below). He has only been in the store since the beginning of this month, and told me that he is there from early in the morning until 22h00 at night, being hands-on on the floor, and welcoming patrons to his Melissa’s outlet.

imageThe Sour Service Award goes to iFix in the V & A Waterfront, at which I booked in my phone to have its glass screen replaced, it having cracked due to falling. The booking process took 15 minutes, as the 13 legal terms and conditions the assistant wanted me to sign were barely readable, as their printer toner had run out! The assistant could not get it to print once replaced, despite irritatingly telling me that she had it under control. A colleague had to help her. It created a queue of irritated customers too, as no invoices could be printed. The assistant told me that it would take 2 hours to get the phone back, which I spent at Melissa’s (see above). When I got my phone back, I received an Sms to say my phone was ready for collection, which had been sent one hour after checking it in, despite me being phone-less at that time, as they had the phone and my SIM card!

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog. Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at whalecot@iafrica.com. Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog.

POSTSCRIPT 16/10: Both Jo, Manager of the iFix V & A Waterfront branch, and Simon, the Manager of the iFix Cape Town branch, called this morning to apologize profusely, especially given that they have previously received a Sweet Service Award.
