The Sweet Service Award goes to Camps Bay Hardware and its owner Jared Stein, for his amazing community orientation, and his kindness and generosity towards me, having supported me in selling garbage bags at a reduced price to me for the Camps Bay Clean litter pick-up, and for most recently sourcing Citronella candles for me when I was not able to buy them elsewhere.
The Sour Service Award goes to Arctic Cool, for its unprofessional ending to a job done on the airconditioners of an upstairs neighbour’s apartment in the EbbTide block in which I live. The aircon was leaking directly in front of my front door and had to be raised on the parapet above my door and connected to a water outlet pipe to stop the leak. The owner of the apartment, Magali Seguillon in Paris, did not arrange for anyone to look after the workers, only asking her Argentinian tenants to open for them. Even though the job had nothing to do with me, they presented themselves to me on arrival, and requested the use of my electricity. On completion of the job, one of the men called Gradwell jumped from the parapet into the garden below, squashing my carefully tended plants. The more I asked him to move off a plant, the angrier we both got, resulting in him insulting me with a disparaging discriminatory age-inappropriate comment! The Argentinian tenants were not in the building when they completed the job, and I was expected to escort the workers out of the building despite the dreadful insult by one of them, and the general rudeness to me by the apartment owner. I called the owner of the company Richard Littlefield to report to him what had happened and the unprofessional conduct of one of his staff.
