Friday 15 May 2020, Day 15 of Level 4, after 35 days of Level 5. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, starting off rainy, but stopping just as Exercise Time commenced, a nice fresh walk up to Clifton 2nd Beach; for another bout of rain at lunchtime, and a sunny ending to the day; for a lovely tea/coffee chat at the side of the road after exercise with Barry Aaron about Charlie aka KitKat 🐱, who visits me daily; for all the love in the sky today, one heart cloud after the other throughout the day 💙💙💙; for being so up to date with my writing early this morning that I could go to town, only the fourth such trip in 7 weeks; for the most amazing service from Hennie Kriel of Audi Cape Town in the Waterfront; for #eyecandy walking past my home and chatting with him from my terrace; for shopping what I need for the next two weeks, including some German comfort food 🇩🇪; for another good step day, with an excellent heart exertion rate gifting me 300 Discovery points; for dancing to Kfm this afternoon; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙

It is Jenny Stephens birthday today, and we held over meeting to celebrate, until the sun is back tomorrow. ❤️

My Blogpost today was Premier Alan Winde’s plea to move our province to Level 3 before the end of the month.

Corona Virus Lockdown: Western Cape Premier Alan Winde makes a reasoned plea for the province to be moved to Level 3 before the end of May 2020, through a targeted Hot Spot Plan!

I had a Do List, not expecting to have to drive to the nearest garage, as one of my car tyres was completely flat, not hard for me to work out who dunnit in the building in which I live. I topped up my petrol, only having used R260 worth of petrol in 7 weeks. I went to Hartlief, for a German fix of sausages and steak tartare; and to The German Grocer nearby. Hartlief had a staff member spraying a Sanitiser. All their tables and chairs were packed into a corner. No prepared hot foods or salads may be sold, but they have breads and cold meats. The German Grocer was as relaxed as always.

The service highlight by far was at Audi, to which I’d gone to get a new license disk holder. I told Workshop Manager Hennie Kriel about the flat tyre, and immediately he took control, took my keys, and came back to say that he had checked each tyre for damage, and found them all to be in order, except that they all had the incorrect tyre pressure, even though I gave the petrol attendant the information this morning! I had to be Sanitised, my personal details and my temperature taken, a first for me. Hennie moved the car seat but then moved it back, knowing that this is a pet peeve. He suggested that someone let the air out of my tyre! 🥵

There were many cars outside the Tascha side of the Waterfront. It was intimidating to be back in shops where the service was so bad today, compared to our smallish supermarkets in Camps Bay with ever improving service. The lowlight was Cellucity next to Willoughby’s, belonging to Vodacom. I wanted to pay my monthly account, something I had to request three times. Then I asked when my contract expires, which they could check efficiently. Then I asked if I can downscale given that I don’t need the airtime and data within the contract (worth about R500 per month) , being at home most of the time, and on Wifi. This switch will cost a R750 once-off fee! Then they couldn’t do the R300 per month cheaper switch, because the computer shows that I still owe payment for last September, the saga I went through with Vodacom when they allocated my payment to another customer! I started fuming, an hour wasted, a manager having to guide the person dealing with me all the way through! I had to be hand sanitized and my details were also taken, for contact-tracing, if needed. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 Pathetic Service.

Clicks’ service was fine, buying my stash of Smarties there. My equivalent of cigarettes, need a box a day.. 😱😊😷😂

I was about to turn around at Woolworths as there was quite a queue outside the store, when a staff member came up to me and invited me to jump the queue, for once my age counting in my favour. 🙏 I went to the Ladies Clothing Department first, just to look see : everything selling at at least 20% off, and dreadful selection of winter clothing. Only one mirror on the whole floor, and no cubicles to try on things, so I tried on the cardigans I wanted to buy inside the shop, there being almost no customers.
Inside the Food section I couldn’t help but notice how the prices have risen this week, knowing the prices of my favorite products very well. 🥵🥵🥵 But very sweet service from the cashier.

The Post Office visit was a joke. It’s open but the post boxes empty, as they are not authorized to put post into the boxes yet….. 🥵🥵🥵

I was relieved to get out of the Waterfront after two hours spent there. On my way back home I saw that all the green rubbish bins had their lids standing open, likely to be left like that by bin scratchers, so I grabbed my shopping bag as a disguise, and walked as far as the police station, to close the lids and pick up litter. Clifton looked really bad with so much litter on the pavement this morning. 🥵🥵🥵

All in all a fabulous day, except for the Vodacom interaction. Ended off the day with a long chat to Charlotte Zachariou in Knysna ❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, and lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
