Sweet Service Award goes to Cape Town firefighters; Sour Service Award goes to Coco Safar

The Sweet Service Award goes to the City of Cape Town and volunteer firefighters for their dedication and hard work in combatting and finally extinguishing the devastating fire at Rhodes Memorial, UCT, and Mostert’s Mill from Sunday – Tuesday this week. The helicopter water bombers must be commended too, as is every person who assisted in accommodating and feeding UCT residence students, for donating animal food, and for other acts of kindness.

The Sour Service Award goes to Coco Safar in Sea Point, for its misleading sales of its ‘100% Chocolate’ Bombe Choc Explosion Tub of ice cream, at R125 for 500 ml. Represented as being Gelato, it in fact was a mix of more cake than ice cream, layered in the tub.  A most unsatisfactory eat, and a total waste of money!

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog. Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at chrisvonulmenstein [at] gmail.com. Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog.
