The Sweet Service Award goes to Discovery, for paying all the costs associated with my recent eye operations, including the opthalmologist cost the day hospital expenses, and the cost of a PCR Test which I needed prior to the first operation. While I realise that I have paid for the insurance costs, and have never previously claimed, it was an effortless process, the staff of Dr Vayanos doing the paperwork with Discovery. All that was required was my Discovery number.
The Sour Service Award goes to Standard Bank, for deactivating my credit card from Apple Pay, supposedly ‘due to a system update’, and requesting me to ‘reactivate your card to gain full access to the services’. While the bank apologises in the SMS message, it is scary to see that something like this can happen, especially as the bank continuously sends emails warning one against banking scams!
The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog. Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at chrisvonulmenstein [at] gmail.com. Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog.
