Tiletoria Sweet Service and One&Only Cape Town Sour Service Awards!

TiletoriaThe Sweet Service Award goes to Tiletoria in Paarden Eiland, and its sales assistant Abeda Murray, for assisting a few weeks ago with two small bathroom wall tiles required as replacement in our guest house.  Usually tile retailers force one to buy a box of tiles as a minimum, or tend to be out of stock with the tile size and/or colour one needs, necessitating one to drive from one tile retailer to the next in Paarden Eiland.  Abeda found two sample tiles in the back room.  She refused to accept payment for the tiles, and throughout the short visit she was friendly and professional.  Earlier this week I returned to buy a box of the wall tiles, and once again her service was excellent.

One & Only Cape Town Wifi costThe Sour Service Award goes to the One&Only Cape Town, for charging its guests eating at Reuben’s and at Nobu R20 in cash (it may not be added to the bill!) for up to 200 MB wifi usage, despite the R1000 or more the patrons would spend on a meal and wine!   The staff are not empowered to comp the charge, we have been told.

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog.  Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at  whalecot@iafrica.com.   Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog, and in the WhaleTales newsletters on the www.whalecottage.com website.
