The Sweet Service Award goes to the V&A Waterfront parking, for opening the boom when I reported at the exit boom that I had paid R15 for the parking, but had forgotten the ticket inside the machine. When I had returned to the machine, the ticket had been taken. They opened the boom and let me out of the parking garage without question or further payment!
The Sour Service Award goes to Woolworths at St John’s Piazza in Sea Point, which must be one of the lamest branches of the retail chain! I returned two items, and asked the staff member if she could find one of them in another size at another branch. It cost 15 minutes for another chewing gum-chewing staff member to look it up on the system, so I had a manager called. She had to assist in the search. I then bought a few groceries, and had a Woolworths voucher on my phone. Once the items were totaled up, I presented my phone with the voucher details. Instead of just deducting the R100 from the total, a gift card had to be issued at another till, as the till I was at did not offer that service! Once again a supervisor had to assist the cashier in issuing the card, so that the R100 could be deducted! It was as if this Woolworths branch made sure that my time in the store was twice as long as necessary due to the inefficiency of its staff!
