*   Daniel ‘Harry Potter’ Radcliffe was spotted climbing Table Mountain yesterday.  He is in Cape Town for the filming of ‘Game Changer’.

*   Lion’s Head is closed to hikers, due to a rockfall, but Table Mountain National Park is hoping to re-open it in time for the weekend.

*   Cape Vintner Classification will be launched officially at the London Wine Fair this week, to counter the image of our country’s wines as ‘cheap and cheerful‘.  The Classification will represent the 80% of brands that make up 10% of our wine export volume, and will market quality local wines first, and brands second.  Criteria are that the wine estate grows its own grapes and makes its own wines. To date 22 wine estates have been approved for membership, including Vergelegen, Rust en Vrede, Morgenster, Groot Constantia, and Hamilton Russell Vineyards.

*   Kirstenbosch National Botanical  Garden won a Silver Gilt Award at the Chelsea Flower Show, despite not all its plants making it to the show on time. Due to a new international convention on the transport of plants, some of the plants did not make it out of British customs.  A number of other exhibitors lent the stand some of their plants, to fill the gaps.

*   The Oranjezicht City Farm Market will move from Leeuwenhof, Premier Helen Zille’s official residence, to Granger Bay near the Lookout Centre in the V&A Waterfront, for the whole winter, from 6 June.

*   Anthonij Rupert Wine Estate is offering two new tasting experiences: In its Terra del Capo Tasting Room, an Italian Cheese and Wine Tasting will inform about the local and imported cheeses and the Terra del Capo wines tasted, costing R60.  A Tea Tasting is offered in the Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room, a Premier Grand Cru Prestige Teas from TWG Luxury Tea Company or Rooibos Tea tasting is offered to accompany the High Tea, at R30.
