* The City of Cape Town is considering paving a part of Long Street, making it a partial or permanent pedestrian zone for tourists and Capetonians to enjoy.
* The Bot River Spring Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, offering family fun and food pairing with beer as well as wine.
* Woolworths’ sales grew by 23% in the year ended June 2013, compared to 12% growth in the twelve month period prior.
* De Krans Wine Cellar has won the title of Champion Red Wine at the 2013 Klein Karoo Young Wine Show for its Touriga Nacional dry red wine. It was also awarded Champion Chardonnay, Champion Shiraz, Champion Ruby Cabernet and Reserve, Champion Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc and was named the Reserve Champion Private Cellar. * UK holidaymakers have been warned by their Foreign Office about the potential threat of arrest in other countries, for seemingly harmless activities such as feeding pigeons, wearing camouflage clothing, leaving the beach in bathing wear, using nasal spray, bringing mineral water into the country, and more. Most tourist arrests are in the Netherlands, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates.
* One of Thailand’s top chefs, Chef Nooror Somany Steppe and her daughter Sandra from the Blue Elephant Restaurant, will be joining Chef Reuben Riffel in the Reuben’s kitchen at the One&Only Cape Town on 6 September, to prepare a 3 course traditional Thai meal. * Villiersdorp is also celebrating Spring with its Spring Arts Festival from 13 – 15 September, celebrating the artistic community, its wines, and farm produce.
