* Emirates has renewed its joint marketing agreements with the tourism bodies of South Africa, Seychelles, and Mauritius, enabling the airline’s growing network to bring in more tourists to the three countries.

* Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom will meet with Tourism Ministers from other African countries on Friday, ahead of Indaba, to reassure them about the xenophobic attacks against African nationals working in our country. The ‘Africa: Open for Tourism Business’ discussion will be chaired by African Union Commission Chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, focusing on the theme of the current state of Tourism in Africa.

* The appointment of the successful bidder for the construction of the new Cruise Terminal in the Cape Town port has been delayed again, due to changes in the management of Transnet National Ports Authority an Transnet SOC Limited. The announcement is now expected in June.

* ‘Attractions Africa 2015’ takes place at The Avenue in the V&A Waterfront on 3 and 4 June, a platform for the management of tourism attractions in our country, including wine estates, game reserves, nature park, and more. The speaker program is futures orientated, one of the speakers being Dutch Futurist Albert Postma. ‘This is the only forum in South Africa for attractions to network with peers from multiple tourism industries’, says Sabine Lehmann, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company MD, and Chairperson of Attractions Africa. * South Africans are encouraged to celebrate World Whisky Day next week (16 May) with a proudly South African whisky. The Three Ships whisky range is made at The James Sedgwicks Distillery in Wellington by award-winning Andy Watts, and the range consists of Three Ships Select, Premium Select 5 Year Old, Bourbon Cask Finish, and 10 Year Old Single Malt.
