Cleaning Camps Bay: giving back to the community!

 

I’ve been called many things in my life, but the one that I like the most is that I’m ‘The cleaning lady of Camps Bay’, referring to my daily walks in Camps Bay and Bakoven, wearing a gardening glove to pick up litter along the way.

Pick n Pay partners with Imagined Earth to Test Drive its new Recycling Reverse Vending Machines!

 

Two weeks ago I wrote a story about Pick n Pay’s new Recycling machines introduced into some of its stores to test drive the high-tech recycling Reverse Vending Machines, one of the machines having been installed in Camps Bay, my neighbourhood store. The article was based on outdated media releases sent to me by the Pick n Pay Head Office.  Two weeks after speaking to Josh Nuttal of Imagined Earth, the company which Pick n Pay is partnering with on this recycling project, I finally received what was intended to be an up-to-date  media release about the recycling project. Pick n Pay rolls out automated recycling machines in some of its stores, one in Camps Bay!

 

Having test-run two first automated recycling machines in its Waterfront store, Pick n Pay has expanded the number of stores in which it has placed its machines to three, being Camps Bay, Constantia, and its On Nicol store in Johannesburg.  This is not a minute too soon, given how much litter is generated from Pick n Pay store purchases, if Camps Bay is a sample of one.
