World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 celebrated in London, FYN Restaurant does Cape Town proud!

 

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants were announced and celebrated in London this evening.

The 20th anniversary of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants was also celebrated at the awards ceremony.

Last week the 2022 World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranked from 51 – 100 were announced. La Colombe climbed up the ladder to number 56, while Wolfgat dropped from number 50 down to number 90, a huge shock.

As FYN Restaurant was not on the 51 – 100 List this year, it indicated that the restaurant had fallen out of the list or that it had jumped up into the World’s 50 Best Restaurant List. The latter was true.

Corona Virus Pandemic: What is happening at the World’s 50 Best Restaurants?

 

I took a walk through Instagram today, to get an idea of what the top ten chefs and restaurants of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants List are dong right now, many are lucky enough to be getting ready to open up for service again, while others remain closed for sit-down Service, and are cooking for their communities.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards will not be held in 2020, having been scheduled to take place in Antwerp last week. The awards have been postponed to 2021. In our country Eat Out has announced that it too will postpone its Award ceremony.

Michelin introduces new Sustainable Gastronomy accolade, a five-leaf clover, in France!

 

The Michelin Guide has introduced a worthy new symbol to restaurants which care about the environment. Using a five-leaf clover, it was introduced in France on 27 January 2020 for the first time, when the new symbol was awarded at its annual star event to 50 restaurants out of a total of more than 3500 Michelin-recognised restaurants. The Sustainable Gastronomy symbol will be awarded to Michelin restaurants internationally as and when the new 2020 Michelin Guides are published this year. Continue reading →
