Water-wise Cape Town Cycle Tour 2018: where are the cyclists hiding?
Tomorrow the 40th Cape Town Cycle Tour, more commonly referred to as The Argus after its former media sponsor, will be held in Cape Town, a year after the race had to be called off due to extreme wind speeds. No such action is likely tomorrow. The event planners have gone out of their way to make it as water-friendly as possible. Cape Town residents Sweet Service Award; Multichoice Sour Service Award!
The Sweet Service Award goes to the people of Cape Town, who came to the party in donating clothing, food, beverages, and bedding for the residents of Imizamo Yethu, who were left destitute after a devastating fire this past weekend. Donations were dropped off at the fire stations in Sea Point and Hout Bay, at Pick ‘n Pay outlets, at La Parada Constantia Nek, and at schools in Hout Bay. New Cycle Route between Cape Town and Plettenberg Bay to be developed!
In order to stimulate Tourism in the Western Cape, a new Cycling Route between Cape Town and Plettenberg Bay is to be established over a five-year period, Western Cape Minister of Tourism Alan Winde has announced. It will contribute to his goal of attracting 100000 cycle tourists to the province every year.
