Restaurant Review: Café Charles in De Waterkant disappoints with Lamb Curry Collection!

I am not a big fan of Take-Away food, it usually arriving cold, the delivery costs being exorbitant if one uses Uber Eats, and the presentation of the dish and atmosphere of the restaurant cannot be replicated in a Take-Away.

I wanted to spoil my friend Gary on a day forecast to be cold and rainy, a perfect day for Lamb Curry, which I saw advertised by Café Charles as a Take-Away Delivery or Collection during Level 4 Lockdown, before Sit-Down was allowed. Remembering a fantastic Lamb Curry delivered to me by the restaurant a year ago, I ordered a repeat of the dish ten days ago. Sadly the experience and food was chalk and cheese compared to that of a year ago! Continue reading →

Monday 22 February, 2021, Day 59 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 334 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a 22 C day, with no wind; for Minsky coming home early this morning, after another night of galavanting 🙀; for a long writing day, having to first delete some Apps and videos from my phone so that my Instagrammed pics come into my camera roll; for a lovely snooze this afternoon after my disrupted sleep and worry about Minsky; for a late afternoon walk to Clifton and back, the first time since Wednesday that I have earned 300 Discovery points 💙 ; for a very noisy apartment client directly above me having checked out today 👏👏👏; and for being happy and healthy. And the belly dancing on Saturday evenings remains, adding a vibrant and colourful touch to the dinner. Continue reading →

Saturday 20 February 2021, Day 57 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 332 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a lovely relaxed day; for finding Version 3 of the Jacques Pauwgate story on Daily Maverick this morning , and having to post it, the Waterfront restaurant now named; for a litter clean up with Imtiaz, from Bakoven through the lanes and steps to Camps Bay Drive this morning, and cleaning at the Tidal Pool this afternoon again; for collecting my free copy of Daily Maverick 168 at Pick n Pay; for a Skype meeting with the Canadian Tour Guiding Tour Operator and fellow Committee members from around the world, making me grateful for the amount of Lockdown freedom we have in our country compared to many other countries; for Jenny Stephens joining me for dinner at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant, a fun evening with lots of good food; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
