Cape Town and Winelands see host of new restaurant openings: December 2020 update!

 

Cape Town and the Winelands is experiencing a restaurant boom, with new openings currently as well as openings announced for 2023.

The biggest restaurant opening extravaganza is that of JAN Franschhoek, the third restaurant in the JAN Restaurant Collection, opening at La Motte in Franschhoek. La Motte is undergoing a major renovation and changes at its wine estate, with a Bread-related Café & Deli opening  in the La Motte Manor House in February 2023. Chef Chris Erasmus is working with La Motte as a consultant, until February. #Grateful for another special day, taught today that one needs to take chances, and that the payback can be so special; for being organized in my work this morning, preparing for my meeting this afternoon; for having tea with birthday girl Vivian Warby at Caprice, loving sitting in the sun on this beautiful day; for meeting the new next door ‘neighbour’, who has bought the erf next to us plus two behind us, planning to build three apartment blocks the size of ours 😱, by coincidence one of them in Houghton Road having the huge amount of litter which we picked up on Sunday afternoon; for a successful client status meeting at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant; for a fabulous treat and spoil Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for so much rain overnight until early this morning ☔️, cooling things down to about 21C today; for a second short deep sleep this morning after not sleeping much last night; for a quick walk through Bakoven with my cleaner Imtiaz, John having left our team, and Carmen not coming to work today; for a busy morning preparing for the Status meeting with my Client; for leaning something new in marketing a restaurant; for picking up a last Mohnbrötchen at Dinkel Bakery, and receiving excellent service there; for a quick pop in at Peppertree Café to buy Mince pies; for collecting cold meats at the Continental Butchery on Kloof Street; for a lovely tea with a view and cookies and a chocolate coated coffee bean spoil at the home of Gary Peterson and Thomas Hohnke 🙏, allowing me to relax completely after my hectic morning before going to my client meeting; for a very good client meeting; for spoiling myself at Fideli’s (next door to Pilcrow & Cleaver), also belonging to Chef Judi Fourie, whom I had just missed; for another refreshing walk through Bakoven, the suburb being deserted, as was the city where I drove today; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙 Continue reading →
