Wednesday 12 May 2021, Day 73 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another special day, taught today that one needs to take chances, and that the payback can be so special; for being organized in my work this morning, preparing for my meeting this afternoon; for having tea with birthday girl Vivian Warby at Caprice, loving sitting in the sun on this beautiful day; for meeting the new next door ‘neighbour’, who has bought the erf next to us plus two behind us, planning to build three apartment blocks the size of ours 😱, by coincidence one of them in Houghton Road having the huge amount of litter which we picked up on Sunday afternoon; for a successful client status meeting at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant; for a fabulous treat and spoil at Labotessa Boutique Hotel on Church Square; for walking a number of rounds around Church Square to make up steps; for some shopping at Fideli’s Deli and ordering a chocolate mousse doughnut which I took home with me, eating the strawberry sorbet at Pilcrow & Cleaver; for a lovely birthday celebration dinner at Toni’s on Kloof for Viv, knowing most of the fellow ‘Nearest & Dearest’, and laughing from the word go, Willem Engel- brecht taking the cake 😂; for Piet van Zyl walking me to my car 💙; for only one Gameboard play, but scoring a bonanza 450 Miles; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏

My Blogpost today was about the new marketing campaign for the Western Cape by Wesgro, aimed at the Dutch and German markets.

Wesgro encourages tourists to ‘Get in a good space’ in new Western Cape marketing campaign!

I wrote on my Blog previously about a lovely tour of Labotessa Hotel on Church Square, owner Johan du Plessis showing me around and highlighting special features of the hotel and restaurant. I knew that they close the kitchen at 16h00, and decided to take a chance by getting there at 16h30, to see if their lovely Dutch appeltaart and tea were available, needing to kill two hours between my meeting and Viv’s dinner. Whilst being quite withdrawn and careful when I first met Johan, he was warm and welcoming today, remembering my name, telling me that the apple tart and cream would always be available for me, no matter the time of day. He made my tea personally and cut the cake, and we chatted about business, about tourism, and personal growth during Lockdown. We talked about Tour Guiding, and when I told him I’m a qualified Tourist guide, he said that they would like to use me for their German clients. Wow. He did not want to accept payment for the tart and tea, and sent me off with a gift bag of Diptyque bathroom amenities, an exclusive brand made in France and only stocked in 11 exclusive hotels around the world. Johan created a boutique for the products, smelling wonderful, and gifted me a soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. It felt like my birthday, being spoilt so 🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙

What a wonderful day. ❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
