Cape Town ranks third on The Telegraph Greatest Cities on Earth list!

 

In March The Telegraph announced that Cape Town is the greatest city in the world to visit right now. Last week it ranked Cape Town as the third greatest city on Earth, scoring 549 out of 810 points.

Utilising a list of 50 Top city contenders, its annual reader survey, and input from its Travel writers, it ranked the list of cities on a number of factors, including the number of museums, galleries, UNESCO heritage sites, Michelin restaurants,  5-star hotels, beaches, air cleanliness,  transport, tourist attractions, legalized same-gender marriage, and LGBTQ+ community safety. Additional points went to cities with a symphony orchestra, and a metro system.

President Ramaphosa moves SA to Level 1, shifts Curfew to midnight – 4h00, Restaurants remain open until 23h00!

 

Excellent news announced by the surprise and very short Speech by President Cyril Ramaphosa this evening is that the Government is moving the country to Level 1 from tonight, marking the 11-month anniversary of Lockdown in our country.

President Ramaphosa announced that the move to Level 1 pushes the Curfew to midnight, until 4h00. Restaurant closing times were not addressed, possibly moving to 23h00. In the Gazette, the closing time of restaurants is confirmed as 23h00.  Continue reading →

*   Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil achieved a score of 98 out of 100 at the international Flos Olei 2014 competition, one of only eleven in the world and the only South African brand, and was named one of 20 ‘Made with Love‘ best olive farms in the world.  Morgenster owner Giulio Bertrand says that his Italian olive trees and expertise, the exceptional South African terroir, and a focus on quality throughout the production process has led to their success. Flos Olei’s described the Morgenster olive oil as follows: ‘We recommend the Extra Virgin Morgenster, which is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with slight green hues.  Its aroma is definite and elegant, rich in vegetal hints of freshly mown grass, artichoke and chicory, together with distinct notes of mint and rosemary.  Its taste is full and strong, with a flavour of thistle, lettuce and black pepper. Bitterness and pungency are distinct and balanced, with a sweet almond finish’. (received via media release from North & South PR)
