‘My Cape Town Guide/Mein Kapstadt Guide’ launched, after qualifying as a Tourist Guide during Lockdown!

 

In January I attended a Tourist Guiding course run by the Tourist Guiding Institute, with a theoretical as well as a practical content, and received my Certificate last week, the issuing thereof much delayed due to the Covid-19 Lockdown. I am qualified as a Cultural Tourist Guide, as well as a Wine Tourist Guide, for the Western Cape as well as Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route, and guide in English and in German. Corona Virus Lockdown: StreetSmart encourages home diners to ‘Dine In. Do Good!’ to fund the support of street children!

 

StreetSmart SA, a Public Benefit Organisation which collects monies from R5 donations paid by patrons at participating restaurants, has been affected in doing its good work in caring for Street Children by the Corona Virus Lockdown, as no restaurants have been permitted to trade in the past two months.

In order to continue its good work, needed even more so during these difficult times, the organisation has launched an interim ‘Dine In. Do Good!’ campaign, encouraging home diners to donate R150 per month (R5 per day), or even more to StreetSmart SA until restaurants reopen. Continue reading →

Corona Virus Lockdown: Facebook Page listing of all Restaurants offering Take Away Food Delivery from 1 May in the Western Cape!

 

I’ve been thinking about how I can give to the restaurant industry, other than my physical input. Yesterday it struck me: creating a new Facebook page listing all the restaurants which will open on Friday 1 May to offer a Take-Away Food Delivery Service, as per Level 4 regulations. The page is called ‘Take Away Food Deliveries Level 4 Cape Town and Winelands’, but I’ve already added the Garden Route, the Overberg, and West Coast too. Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another warm, even humid, day, feeling warmer than the 22 C forecast, sweating while I dance/walk to Kfm; for feeling very energetic today, in writing an unplanned BIogpost, and creating a new Facebook page; for Petra Renate Quinlan agreeing to make some cloth masks for me from some leftover scarves, which are compulsory from Friday; for good old-fashioned calls with friends; for a friendly Bay Response Officer Saliem stopping outside our block and asking if I am alright when I was dancing on the terrace; and for feeling happy and healthy 🙏💙 Continue reading →
