Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 18 of Level 3, 18 June 2020.

Thursday 18 June 2020, Day 18 of Level 3, after 66 days at Levels 4 and 5. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another magnificent day…. can we be so lucky to have a week of summer in the middle of winter ?❤️; for walking twice today, at lunchtime up to Clifton Fourth Beach, bumping into Thomas and Haakon again, and a Camps Bay beachfront round at sunset time with Lisa Hayden who lives in Bakoven, with the most stupendous sunset; for having a writing-free morning after writing about President Ramaphosa’s speech last night and posting it then; for Henry getting my apartment alarm fixed after putting in the new battery and reprogramming it; for getting appointments at Sorbet and for my hair as soon as the opening date is announced (1 July probably); for loving how my vegetable garden is flourishing, with the compost we have been adding, tomatoes just growing wild, and the bought beetroot and coriander plants loving all the sun as well as rain; for receiving an invitation to participate in an online cooking show with one of our country’s top chefs…. 😱; for a long Vit D fix on the terrace; for Minsky now knowing her surroundings, and returning back inside without I having to panic; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 7 of Level 4, 7 May 2020!

Thursday 7 May 2020, Day 7 of Level 4 after 35 days at Level 5 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, even if it was slightly cooler at 20C; for being allowed to get out of the house for the luxury of exercising, and meeting and catching up with so many friendly locals and friends, today Mahmud for the first time, and Thomas and Haakon for the third time since Lockdown started; for seeing the kids on their little bikes loving riding inside the old children’s pool; for seeing a greater number of persons wearing their masks properly every day; for meeting staff of the City Parks Dept for the first time in 6 weeks, and being able to ask them to stop irrigating the lawn as the grass is very long and it was spraying the Exercisers on the pavements and walkways this morning ; for a spectacular sunset tonight; for receiving a gift of a box of Adhara olive oil from the Mayer Family via Janet Pillai, to be offered as a give-away on the Lockdown Food Delivery Facebook page, which now stands at over 300 restaurants today: for lovely long chats with Rufus Scholtz about the Facebook page, and with Tracey Blom, reconnecting with her for the first time in 15 years, having worked together in Franschhoek; for no longer feeling the urge to leave my home to shop walk given the morning exercise, yet still exceeding my daily Step goal; and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙

The benches at Vida e Caffe were taped up this morning, to prevent the cyclist coffee drinkers from sitting down there. They now drink their coffee across the road.

This morning I wrote a story about Chef Luke Dale Roberts entering the Food Delivery market at the extreme high end, at prices which are out of reach to most.😱

Corona Virus Lockdown: Chef Luke Dale Roberts enters Food Delivery market, with very high-end up to R5000 Gourmet Hampers!

I wasn’t suitably dressed when a colleague of Janet arrived to deliver the olive oil, and had to blow dry my hair for the obligatory photograph. And then I realized that I didnt wear my mask inside my house…. whereas she did.

An aircon repair company came to check on the aircons of the upstairs neighbour, which have started leaking in front of my door. What they needed to fix the problem they did not bring along. The water is leaking onto the steps I use to go downstairs, making them very treacherous to use.

I called Discovery, to check why they hadn’t taken the payment for the Building Insurance I signed up with them on 30 April. It was too late to teach the bank for the May stop order, but all organized now. Weird that a Discovery staff member tried to call me at 8h15 this morning, during Exercise Time!

WebAfrica must have the worst Call Centre, I having to hold on for ages. They offered to call back ‘shortly’, and I am still waiting, four hours later. 🥵

I danced to Kfm in-between updating the Restaurant list, a never ending story. 💃🎶👣

SA Corona Status : 8232 cases 161 deaths 😷😥

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, and lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
