Thank you 2020 for everything that you have taught me, my Top 20 of 2020!

 

I was very excited about the year 2020, having the 20th as a birthdate, and it being my lucky number. Despite the tragedy of the Corona Virus pandemic and the inconvenience of the Lockdown regulations at times, 2020 turned out to be one of my best ever, learning from it and growing through it.

#Grateful for a warm 26C day, windstill, with another such day forecast for tomorrow; for a writing morning, followed by a deep clean of my apartment, getting up to 5000 steps before I left for a proper walk in Camps Bay, including a shop at Woolies, needing croissants for my guests this afternoon; for getting help from gorgeous Llewellyn to become the admin of the clientโ€™s Facebook page ๐ŸŽ; for the surprise of receiving two Discovery Gameboard plays, despite not having received any points since I hit Diamond status about 10 days ago; for an easy transition from Discovery Coastal Core to Classic Smart, costing only R19 more per month and heaps more medical and dental benefits, Maki Chase holding my hand virtually ๐Ÿ™; for a R164 Discovery Insure cash back for driving less; for the honour of being interviewed by THE 6 foot 6 inches Derek Watts today, in my home, more details to come when it is aired; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →

#Gratitude for another day of abundance; for a beautiful warm sunny day, the wind only picking up late this afternoon, and an even more special day lying ahead tomorrow; for a successful litter Beach Clean today, with 20 garbage bags filled, one team of two filling four bags, and winning our The 41 Restaurant prize for most litter collected; for receiving a pot of tea from The 41, with everyone else that participated; for Colleen de Villiers coming to visit, so that we could have lunch at Tindlovu Camps Bay, joined by George Sax for a short while; for saying โ€˜goodbyeโ€™ to Maison J, which is no more, becoming OK JA tomorrow, everything changing except the coffee and tea; for Colleen coming to my home, and I then walking her back to her car; for an amazing Discovery surprise; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →

#Grateful for sun, sun, sun, after a misty morning, with a slight chill in the 17C day; for a late sleep in, having written todayโ€™s Blogpost last night; for a walk in Camps Bay, making a leg waxing appointment for tomorrow, shopping at Woolies, and collecting discount vouchers from Tindlovu; for learning more about the cost of electricity in our apartment block, after the Power Audit was done; for having the patience in filling in more forms to be registered with CATHSSETA as a Tourist Guide, a challenging career when it comes to all the governmental paperwork prescriptions; for dropping off the forms at the lecturerโ€™s house in Rondebosch, combining it with a number of other stops in the city, including buying my first alcohol in almost six months of Lockdown, having run out of Jameson; for more fantastic service from PnP Clothing in The Point in Sea Point; for a slice of carrot cake and tea and company from the lovely staff member at Bokeh Creative Space, looking forward to dancing there soon Adrian Lazarus; for popping in at Oxalis Eatery to drop off a bottle of ADHARA extra virgin olive oil, with four female owners of the restaurant, which opened in late August; for a half an hour stop at Pilcrow & Cleaver, having a glass of Valley Pinot Noir and a Scallop Ceviche with Orange segments, pine nuts and sultanas, oh wow…; for ending off the day with a first visit to the home of Stuart Bailey, loving my Jameson ๐Ÿฅƒ; for a Discovery Insure Fuel Cashback; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →

#Grateful for the arrival of Spring, finally, what a beauty of a day at 21C ๐ŸŒž; for a glorious day; for meeting Johnny Nortje and walking to Camps Bay, dropping off a sample pack of Dilmah Teas at Firefly Cafรฉ, to try out and to use until they get their tea order delivered; for a fabulous lunch with Johnny at Tindlovu Restaurant in the Camps Bay Promenade, meeting up with Chef Chris Papayannes (whom Iโ€™d last seen at the Newton Johnson Restaurant about 6 years ago), and now Group GM of the 10 Tindlovu restaurants around the country; for a drive with Johnny to Blouberg, walking along the Beachfront; for a second Camps Bay walk, walking with Lisa Hayden whom I bumped into when I was actually heading for Bakoven; for the City of Cape Town having spare electricity, which prevented us from being Loadshed at 18h00, coming off scot-free today; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →
