Stellenbosch explodes with new restaurants, and more to come!

 

I had not been to Stellenbosch since the beginning of Lockdown in March 2020. Last week I spent a day in the town, to walk through its centre, and updating my information of restaurants that have opened and closed in the town since my last visit.

 

I discovered multiple new coffee shops and informal eateries, and a growing number of wine bars. And the start of a challenge to Chef Bertus Basson’s dominance of the university town as far as fine-dining goes.

Meet Chef Prim Reddy of Indian Chapter: 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef!

 

 

Chef Prim Reddy of Indian Chapter in Bloubergstrand is a 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef, and wins a bottle of Adhara Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Chef Prim has published an award-winning Cookbook ‘Temptations’ with Chef Niranj Pather, a blend of Mediterranean and Indian dishes.
Chef Prim is ambitious, and dreams of a second Book and expanding her Indian Chapter brand into the city. As a fellow Sagittarian I know that she will achieve these goals and more.

Eat Out awards Best Everyday Eateries 2018 in the Cape, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal!

It’s an Eat Out week, with the restaurant guide announcing not only its Top 30 Restaurant nominations for 2018, but also celebrating the top Everyday Eateries for the Western Cape, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal. Generally most would find the Eat Out Everyday Eatery choices to be acceptable, but could question why in some categories restaurants were not awarded.  Continue reading →

The Yard opens in Waterfront’s Silo District as multi-cultural cuisine Lifestyle Restaurant, Bar, Deli, and Homeware outlet!

The new The Yard in the Silo District of the V&A Waterfront opened last week, as a multi-cultural cuisine restaurant, but also offering a bar, a homeware shop, and a Deli. It is the most unique restaurant I have experienced, in its diverse food offering. Continue reading →
