Tuesday 19 January 2021, Day 23 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 300 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a cooler day, overcast this morning, and the wind picking up now; for a good return blast to the Trustee, who clearly is stalking me on Facebook; for an efficient writing morning, giving me time to walk to Clifton Fourth Beach and back, gaining 200 Discovery points; for efficiently setting up a Camps Bay Cleaning meeting for Friday; for meeting with my new second client at his restaurant this afternoon, liking its feel, not having been there for many years; for a spontaneous pop in at Café Charles in De Waterkant, just after it closed at 3 pm, but its door was still open, so I had a tea with Justine Bee and some of my carrot cake, taking the rest home with me; for dancing to Kfm’s Dansdag 💃💃💃; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Thursday 27 August 2020, Day 9 of Level 2, 154 days and 5 months of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all your lovely messages and encouragement after my downer last night, amazing how an early night can make one feel better the next day ❤️; for a busy day, making a Cabin Fever Plan about visiting five of the Women Restaurateurs this afternoon, to bring them their gift of ADHARA extra virgin olive oil, being inspired by each of these hardworking and dedicated women, and having lovely chats with each 💙; for Venishree Mayer winning two Silver and one Gold SA Olive 2020 awards for their ADHARA olive oils this evening 👏👏👏👏 ; for a spectacular weather change from a warm morning until lunchtime, I leaving home in shorts, to chilly by the time I got back home just over three hours later, and the rain falling now☔️; for being so spoilt on my restaurant delivery trip; for dancing to Kfm to make up my step goal; for the feedback about the Homeless cleaning beggar Michael being made unwelcome by Camps Bay Law Enforcement for harassing the local residents for donations; and for being happy and healthy again. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Since having created a Facebook Group for Food Delivery and Collection during Lockdown, I have become aware of women restaurant owners, something I had never written about or even thought about, only being aware of female chefs in our part of the world. For Women’s Day I planned this article, to profile the female restaurant owners in Cape Town and the Winelands, sadly only finding a small handful of 12.

I have also compiled a list of the Top 13 women Head/Executive Chefs in Cape Town and the Winelands.

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all the glorious rain that has fallen since last night, with a happy garden, and it not being too chilly; for two walking gaps in between the rain, allowing me a Camps Bay walk and a Woolies shop on the way at lunchtime, and an afternoon one in Bakoven with slight drizzle; for the amazing kindness of receiving a bunch of roses from Woolies Manager Gary Arendse for Women’s Day, so spoilt with this branch so close by; for being so inspired by all the stories of the women restaurant owners in the Cape, posted here as well as in the Facebook Group; for surviving a dreadful attack in a Camps Bay Facebook Group; for a rainy day afternoon snooze; for dancing the balance of my steps to Kfm; for a Discovery Cashback for my healthy Woolies food purchases; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
